Coalitions and Human Service Providers spend much of their time out in the community. Below are highlights of some of those activities.
Ajo SAPE (Substance Abuse Prevention & Education Coalition)
Ajo SAPE Coalition thanks all for ongoing support of this annual event. Over 9 pounds of pills were collected and are headed for state-licensed disposal sites.

AZ City Triad – Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens
Everyone loved Bill the Pill! Bill the Pill is a friendly mascot devised by the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens that reminds people about issues around medication misuse and abuse.

BeMedSmart Coalition – Pima Council on Aging (PCOA)
On September 15, 2017, the Pima County Board of Supervisors presented a Proclamation to declare September 18th Medication take back day in Pima county. The individuals in the photo represent the three coalitions that were significantly involved in promoting safe medication disposal and who continue to promote and support the Dispose A Med program. Kathy & Don Seymour, AARP members of the PCOA Be Med Smart Coalition, recently competed in the Annual Southern Arizona Senior Olympics. They represented the Sunflower Senior Active Adult Community in the Bocce events. A total of 35 Women’s, Men’s and Co-Ed teams were entered. Kathy’s Women’s team won the Gold Medal and Don’s Men’s team won the Gold Medal.

The Healthy People Coalition (HPC) helped community members, and Gu Vo Youth Council members obtain their driver’s licenses.
